A 'fruitful' trip back to school...

A mere walk back from Mcdonalds to school made me realise quite a few things today..

WHY??

While walking back to school, me and two other friends had to pass by this small park.. We were chatting and laughing while our feets carried us towards the school.. However, some SUPER PERASAN helpless punky derelicts hanging out at the park shouted at us, saying sth like this in german: HEY! U PEEPS SCOLDING BAD WORDS AT US HUH?!? My two friends were Peter and Marcus. Peter and I didn’t bother, we acknowledged unwanted hostility pursuing us slowly from behind, and so we just continued walking towards school.. Anw, we were just meters away from its backdoor.. The punks (3 of them) pursued us from behind and was shouting and stuff.. Marcus was pissed.. Instead of walking towards school, he stopped and waited for those peeps to come and ‘talked back’ saying sth like Whats ur problem? We weren’t even talking bout u! Mind ur own business.. Peter was telling Marcus, lets move, its unwanted and un-needed trouble.. But Marcus was pissed alright.. But all he wanted was to talk it thru.. But one of the punks (the leader I presume) back by other 2 punks, started pushing him and stuff, saying, come’on! One on one! etc.. Ok, so this is what I realised….

1. Wisdom and ability to swallow ones pride or ego, in chinese simply put ‘ren’ in the third tone… You see, Marcus is easily a 6’2 footer, tall, fit, broad shoulders and has kung fu background… (Yes, Pai seh lah, a Caucasian knows Chinese martial arts but I myself Chinese tak tau pula) At that very moment, IF he wanted to fight, he could have easily taken out those peeps.. Anw, those peeps were kinda stupid especially, the leader in particular.. He was standing on lower stairs challenging a bigger and taller Marcus, Marcus was standing on the higher stairs.. If Marcus would have just kung-fu’ed him, give him a kick or sth like that, he would have made a very bad fall.. Brainless ppl.. Anw, Marcus clenching his fists, turned his back away and just walked.. I think I really admire him for his ability to put into practise a commonly known fact which most ppl fail to do i.e. Learn how to stay calm or swallow ones pride.. Those punks didn’t pursue us any longer…

2. Sometimes, having the thought of not wanting to offend anyone can mean OFFENCE… And I realised that seriously, I’m defenceless if something like that happens to me.. I should have picked up a self defence skill back in msia.. This time around, I had big Marcus.. What about next time? If this can happen to local Germans, what more to a small sized Asian? Guess I should really watch my own back…

3. Unity. When we went back to school, in the breakhall.. When classmates and friends heard about it, they were all pissed and wanted to ‘challenge’ those peeps back after school, as we would have to pass by the same route to get to the gym for fitness lessons.. Wasn’t wise, but I think, unity counts.. haha.. I wasn’t part of the gang though, I had to catch a bus home so… Anw, I think it wasn’t some kinda payback, was more of more ppl=better self defence…

Picked up this quote I wish to share: Its never good to fight, but if you must fight, WIN! I shall make this my modus operandi from now on! Till next time……

Salsa!

Saturday morning! And its a 3 hour salsa course.. Wouldnt say it was sufficient but i can say i did learn quite a bit, considering how a 'gr8' dancer i am.. LOLZ.. A classmate, a rather attractive one.. hehe..*grin* asked me whether i was interested to join salsa with her.. Naturally, i said yes! haha.. But today turned out i had a diff partner.. Well, she had to dance with another friend coz her friend was a lil shy she claims.. I got myself another partner-less girl n we became partners.. Was gr8.. Dancing is kinda cool, but seriously this phrase 'shake it' is easier said then done.. When u gotta really shake it, shake it real good, it can be quite challenging.. But it was fun.. To 'survive' here, dancing is a must.. One of my observations.. So now the prob.. How am i gonna practise?' haha...
Ps: Sry no pics.. Was too occupied dancing.. Seriously, there wasnt enough time.. A month course of 3 hours a week would do much better i think... :P But im smacking myself here too, how can there be no pics for SALSA? >.<

Ive already been here for 5 weeks... To say that im completely enjoying myself, it would be a false statement... Sometimes, thoughts of my comfort zone just pops up in my mind and its often instigated by particular events... The nostalgic feeling arises once again...When this occurs, i often resolve to friends back in msia, but it turns out that i often have to endure unreciprocated mails... On the surface i may just look like the normal me, but deep down, im indeed very much affeceted..

Back in Msia, I could be described as an extrovert, a very much friend oriented person.. This can be interperated as sth negative actually.. I find it rather hard being alone at times, perhaps hard is not the right word... Dislike is the word.. So being here for now would be a training ground for me to change this part of me.. To prompt me to learn to be 'alone' at times...
Being here, the people are friendly... And thats the problem, they are just FRIENDLY. (Fullstop, nothing more) Its hard to get intimate n stuff.. Perhaps, ive been only here a month n im giving myself too much pressure by pushing myself to the limits in learning the language n making new friends...Well, its not perhaps, its sth true as i know another exchange student who came 5 months earlier than i did n she told me that a month is far too lil.. Normally it takes 3 to 4 months to understand the language n be accepted into the clan...So i should just chill a lil... Knowing this is one thing, but its easier said then done.. Considering myself a zealous person, im allways eager in accomplishing sth.. But guess for now i'll try to chill... :)
In short, I think expectations such as making friends fast or receiveing constant emails frm frens back in msia etc are the main cause of me feeling a lil weird n un-me.. It prompts me to ask W questions.. What if.. Why?? Guess this path is one i chose, n i shouldnt look back at all.. Just finish the path...
Im ok here actually, just a post to express the nostalgia... One thing, the stars here at night ate just wonderful.. N it is true, looking at the stars can really make one think of ppl dear to them... :P Would be gr8 to hear frm u peeps frm time to time... Chao.

Germany- My perception....

Having been here a month, I think I ought to share certain things ive noticed in Germany….
1. Germans eat a lot of bread.. Yes, B-R-E-A-D.. Did I mention they eat bread for breakfast n dinner?
2. Germans adore GAS in all kinds of drinks… Even WATER.. Have u ever tasted carbonated water? Haha..
3. It isn’t sth embarrassing to blow ur nose out loud here.. Even if its at the dinner table!
4. Msian car maker perodua are total copycats! Here there are cars which look exactly the same like kembara n kelisa but bares the name, dahaitsu…
5. They aren’t as civilised as I thought Europeans were… Cigarette butts everywhere in the school porch.. McD wrappers at the carpark… Plastic cups n vodka glass bottles everywhere in the ice hockey stadium.. Perhaps its because im living in a small, puny town.. Oh no, its called a village, not a town…>.<
6. Though yes, Mercedes n Bmw’s are frm Germany, BUT, it is expansive too here, not everyone drives them…only the financially well to do can affored them.. n the cars here don’t have stickers at the windscreen, unlike cars in msia.. not even the roadtax sticker…
7. Taking a train can be VERY complicated…n freaking EXPANSIVE!
8. Not many ppl have heard of msia… They ask questions such as:
· Whats the season now in Msia?
· OH… Do u eat like snakes or monkey?
· Do u noe microwave/ coca cola/ Robbie Williams? When I reply yes, crowd goes, WOAH!!
9. The price of land in big cities such as Hamburg, Frankfurt, Berlin or Munich can go up to 500 euros per square meter..
10. Germans themselves aren’t really proud of their past, the NAZIZ… Adolf
Hitler etc…
Alrights, will update more next time… Tschüs!

Events...

14 March
On last Tuesday, I experienced I think, a rare German hospitality.. haha… I was invited to a friends house to wait for the badminton session to start, but ended up going to the mountains to erm, I don’t noe the word, but its sth like sledging, u sit on a plastic plate, n slide down…Her family was very friendly… Was gr8 considering how barely I knew her, or how barely she knew me.. But it was magnificent! Made my first snow angel, or devil.. hehe, u peeps interperate urselves… She was an exchange student herself too in Bolivia n just came back in 2 months... Exchange students do blend in better among each other.. ;) Looking forward for further events as such.. J

17 March
Was my host sisters birthday.. Apparently here, birthdays are celebrated with extended family members too, uncle aunt, grandpa, grandma etc… For no reason, I received a gift as well from my host aunt, chocs n 5 euro.. On the parcel, it stated, to the exchange student.. Haha.. Hope to receive more of these.. J Had tea then dinner with family.. Later at night at 10, went to town to a bristo.. Hung out till 12.. I came home with a friend, she n others adjourned to a disco… U can imagine how small my town is, in the bristo, there were sooo many familiar faces frm school… This implies, apart frm the bristo, there aren’t any other things to do in my town!

There are however a few things to look forward to... Next week, theres a salsa course and the annual sports day! :) Alrights, hasta luego, chao!
